That was the general response.
.
But isn’t that what holidays are for? We slept in until 12 noon. We slept a lot.
.
Like all good tourists, we visited the temples. They were spectacular. I’d love to have met the architect and the interior designer.
.
The intricacy of the detailing…..
.
And the earnestness of the worshippers…..
.
Left us feeling insignificant.
.
Overwhelmed, we sat on the floor and watched the world go by.
.
We whiled away our time creating imaginary stories of people who would never be a part of our lives.
.
Bangkok captivated us with its sights…..
.
Colours…..
.
Art…..
.
Serenity….
.
Spice….
.
Smells….
.
And food.
.
All real reasons to love this amazing city.
.
But like old shoes…..
.
I still missed the familiar. And Wong Kee siew yoke from Pudu.
There’s no food like Malaysian food.
.
B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L photos… photo no. 3 especially…
Yea…I’m going to Bangkok AGAIN end of this year!!!!
that looks like a luxurious hotel bed… give me that and I can sleep till 12 noon everyday!
*sigh* good to be home yar? Can’t tell you how much I missed my Bak Kut Teh and Char Kuey Teow’s when I was there…Glad you liked my adopted city !
There’s no men like Malaysian men also, right? 😉
Very nice pics, simply Thai.
very very nice photos!!
I concur, which is why I visit it every year without fail.
wa.. few days away and already missing m’sian food.. they have good BAK there too u know… 😀 gr8 shots!
Bangkok is one of my fav city and I don’t think there’s anything wrong to sleep in till 12 noon when you are holidaying 🙂 Spectacular shots as always.
I still think Thai food is pretty good but there seems to be a better selection in the Malaysian cuisine as you have different styles to choose from (you know…Indian, Malay, Chinese etc). Bank here in Norway the Thai food is becoming quite common. I think there are about 4-5 Thai restaurants just in tiny Stavanger…but no Malaysian restaurant so far 🙂 Glad to hear that you had a great time in Bangkok. When I went there I left Olav by the pool and I went out walking across Bangkok. I just love walking the streets looking at everything…and nothing 🙂
my husband want to know what kind of camera do you have.
it’s really very beautiful.and you are like us, we sleep a lot on vacation.we even miss the pope giving mass in rome.we took pics of the same but yours are lot better.
i wish…

you may thank me for the hotel recommendation. i shant add to the mountains of accolades on the photos, lest you sink…
so glad i’m going end of this month.
some excellent photos in your post. really like the artistic touches in some of your shots. and i agree that bangkok is a truly amazing and marvelous city. i guess it could do with a lot less pollution- really pity those traffic wardens though- it’s been documented that their life spans are significantly (20-30%) less than normal thais due to the daily intake of smog and fumes.
what’s amazing for me is that almost everyone seems plasticly polite. despite the chaos, it feels like a city that’s much safer than kl.
wow, amazing shots. even the minor details, shades, or shadows made so much difference. green, with envy. =)
anyway, Bangkok’s a fun city, where the endless options of things to do can fill any itinerary, be it a foodie, shopaholic, camwhore, avid photographer, and erm, dark shady characters. haha …
Nothing like a slow pace holiday! The fast pace ones make us wish for another holiday to recuperate from that holiday! Hahaha…
Is the leaf good?
I LOVE all ur captures! and…. yes….. there’s no food like MALAYSIAN food…… 🙂
luckily i had wong kee siew yoke just last week..phew..else suffer la reading this..haha. oh, posting anything good food on BKK soon? i’m going end of this month…
And oh by the way, re: HairyBerry’s last blog post, when are you gonna show me your DIABE? Oh baby, you know you want to… 😛
I would never ask that question because like you said, isn’t that what vacations are about? I am totally into the slow-pace kind of activity while on vacation, sleeping in, lazing around, wandering about at my leisure and just chilling.
Will email you the recipes soon.
hey lemongrass, I wonder r u interested in the foodbuzz publisher program? Email me?
Mochasourcream: T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U! 😀
mimid3vils: Cool! I’d love to go there again!
daphne: Hehe…yeah…it was pretty comfy!
Unkaleong: Aiyoh…now that you’re back, do you miss BKK food instead?
Kenny Mah: Errrrrr. There’s no man like my Bald Eagle. Yeah. That’s more like it. 😀
JENCOOKS: Thank you!
vkeong: Awww…thanks!
Henry Yeo: Oh that’s nice. I’m not sure if yearly trips to BKK will be possible for me since hubby and I usually use up our annual leave for one (or two or max three) major destinations a year.
cumi&ciki: LOL. I have a sensitive stomach. 😛 And yeah, I noticed all the BAK everywhere I turned. Paradise!
live2talk: hehe…exactly!!
Gard: Haha. I still remember your comment abt one of our Malaysian dishes. 😛 You need to visit KL more, Gard, so we can convince you that Msian food is the best in the world. 😀
mareza: Yeah, sleep is important. 😀 Very important! I use a Canon EOS 400D…and it’s on its way to being obsolete soon! (or is it already??)
ai wei: actually, BKK is very very affordable. Look out for good deals on Air Asia. Their package with accom is pretty good.
Precious Pea: You are the queen of travelling. I am sure you won’t waste time sleeping when you can be out there trying the goodies instead. hehe.
caza: Yeah, very yummy!! Thanks!!
lotsofcravings: All photos taken with my 50mm lens la. Which was quite a liability sometimes.
HairyBerry: You sound sarky. 😛
ling239: Errrr. Does look like it, doesn’t it? 😀 The wonders of advertising!
fatboybakes: I’m sure you’ll enjoy staying at that hotel. 🙂 Remember, leave your swimming trunks behind.
howshouse: I read somewhere that it’s their nature to be very peaceloving/non-aggressive. I could see that in every instance except in the cabbies. 🙂
Motormouth: Oh thank you! Don’t go green lah. You take good photos oso mah. So…..which category of visitor would you fall into, eh? 😉 🙂
wmw: Exactly!! You’re so right!
Simon Seow: It’s really good. Very crunchy, and I love the combination of ingredients – savoury, sour, spicy…semua pun ada.
Christine leng: I hear ya girl! Everytime I read your blog posts, my heart goes out to you!
sc: For good food, Precious Pea’s still the authority. 🙂 I’m just a sleeping traveller. hehe. Have fun on your trip!!
Kenny Mah: Gatal. 😛 I’ll show you my DIABE when I’m ready. *wink*
Cynthia: Hehe. That’s a great kind of vacation! Thanks!
daphne: Will email you with my answer. 🙂
such gorgeous photos. felt like i was seeing bangkok for the first time again. and craving for mieng kam suddenly…
I love your photos, LL. So ‘poetry in pictures’. And, yes, the leaf-wrapped Mien Kam is tasty, isn’t it?
Ahhh beautiful post darling, can’t say more than everyone else hahahaha 🙂
Beautiful! You have such a good eye for photography!
I hear yer..!
What gorgeous pictures! Not just a pretty face hor you?
You shoulda brought me with you, i see you replaced me with another hand model *GASP*
What an amazing trip and wonderful perspective. Your photographs give such a different angle and perspective, something i don’t see very often on most blogs. Thank you for your story telling journalism and genius.
Oh, and one more thing…I just love betal leaves like the one you ate! I just found some plants and am growing them now! Hopefully the So Cal weather will be kind to them.
Nice captures as always ^^
Gosh, I miss Bangkok. Wished that my trip was a bit longer…
OMG girl!!! You, too, you slept in a lot??? Hahahaha! I was there from 28/6 to 5/7, you, too? 😉 I’d really really meant to go into the temples but the moment a tout set upon me and my guy, it just made me wonder why the temple needed to be touted, haha! So I only managed the less significant ones, terrible, huh? Perfect reason to go back again! 🙂 Love everything about Bangkok, and regret not taking photos as gorgeous as yours!
Jasmine: I am glad you’re able to see Bangkok through my eyes now.
Argus: Glad you’re back. Been missing ya!!
Msiagirl: Hehe…thank ye!!
Camemberu: That’s so sweet of you!
Crunchasarus Rex: 😀
Paprika: Yeah, criteria for a travel mate is that he/she must have nice hands to be handmodel. 😛
White On Rice Couple: Thank you so much! I am so glad you’ve enjoyed the blog post. And all the best with the plants…So Cal weather is generally mildly cold, isn’t it, so maybe it’ll thrive. (And this is coming from a person who can kill a money plant…eeek)
jason: Thanks! You’ve been to BKK quite a number of times, haven’t ya?
Shilpa: OMG OMG OMG…I was there at the same time! Anyway, since you were with your guy, it’s not like you woulda wanted to meet up, eh? Hehe. Yeah, I wonder why temples need to be touted?
What do they eat for dessert in Bangkok? Desserts are very big in Malibu, California. Curious.
I went to Bangkok recently too, probably did the same tourist spots as you did, but haiz….. my pictures are nothing like yours!!! ):
You got a great eye for composition. Kudos to sifu….
Hello…a friend point me to this blog.
Wanna ask, how in the world did you take that lotus in black silhouette?
