Maybe I need some rehab, or maybe just need some sleep
I’ve got a sick obsession, I’m seeing it in my dreams
I’m looking down every alley, I’m making those desperate calls
Im staying up all night hoping, Hit my head against the walls
What you’ve got boy is hard to find
Think about it all about it all the time
I’m all strung up my heart is fried
I just cant get you off my mind
Because your chang, your chang, your chang, is my drug
Your chang your chang your chang
I said your chang, your chang, your chang, is my drug
Your chang your chang your chang
Won’t listen to any advice, mamma’s telling me to think twice
But left to my own devices i’m addicted its a crisis!
My friends think I’ve gone crazy, my judgment is getting kinda hazy
My status is gonna be affected if I keep it up like a love sick crackhead
Because your chang, your chang, your chang, is my drug
Your chang your chang your chang
I said your chang, your chang, your chang, is my drug
Your chang your chang your chang
I don’t care what people say
The rush is worth the price I pay
I get so high when you’re with me
But crash and crave you when you are away
Because your chang, your chang, your chang, is my drug
Your chang your chang your chang
I said your chang, your chang, your chang, is my drug
Your chang your chang your chang
Heyyy heyyy your chang, your chang, is my drug

Woah! I’m so honoured to be your mascot!
munkey boy is SO CUTE!! ciki is jiggling to the rhythm of your beat π
happy chong-a-chong-chong! chang-a-chang-chang! xoxo
This is so clearly meant to be your ringtone!
I think i won’t be able to have any really good bak chang this year. But someone just explained the origin of bak chang to me. Not sure whether to feel it’s a touching or silly story…
Munkey: thanks for introducing this place to me!
Ciki: jiggling? Ooh. Yeah, he’s very expressive!
Sean: I’ve endured many of your tall stories, what with pictures of the soul and all, so I’m afraid I shall have to take your recommendation with a healthy lump of salt. I don’t recall the story behind the chung touching. Which version did you hear?
Something about some Chinese guy who was unfairly executed by an evil tyrant, and his body was thrown into the river. So the villagers threw bak chang into the river so that the fish would eat the bak chang instead of eating his body. Not a bad legend, I guess…
Oh that’s the version I know too. Of course it’s touching, like all fairy tales should be. And romantic too, dontcha think?
Actually the first thing I asked was, is that a true story or bluff wan? Was assured it was real … but still…
Romance? Not as in boy-meets-girl, right. But even as a quaint rural legend, it doesn’t
Oops I think I just submitted a comment that was left hanging midsentence…
I think I was saying that the legend didn’t move me…
Sean: Romance in the non sexual way, of course. But the story has the potential to become a Hollywood blockbuster. You have the handsome, unfairly treated hero, the villain, the masses that come to the hero’s rescue (CGI), and wildlife to show that nature controls his destiny. Oh I forgot food. An abundance of rice dumpling delicacies!
That’s the version I know too. It’s a lovely story I reckoned. Will ask someone in china to validate this story. Hope they don’t throw me into the Huangpu river for my lousy command of Hua Yu
Oh if that happens, you know what to do – remember to bring along some chungs to feed the fish. But for a sure killer, bring durian. Guaranteed to knock em out cold.
fark. now i gto a massive craving fr chung.
I saw some really good ones (in terms of fillings) in Sg. Hmm..maybe i should hit the hotels..they should hv some funky fillings ;p
i was wondering if you would ever show me the contents of the chang..
maybe i should take some out from the fridge and do some photography!
omg my, that’s a giant bak chang !
that size of chang is to feed aligators lah
Chung season!! Hahaha, just reading the earlier comments re the legend made my Sunday morning! Now, to hunt down an even larger sized chung to satisfy this intense craving…
Becks: Have you seen the prices on the hotel chungs?? Crazy man. But pretty creative, I guess!
Nips: yep, take photos! And you can get ur lovely wife to pose with them. Ooo la la!
Chaokar: Are you calling us alligators? π but you’re right. We couldn’t finish it in one go (jelak) and I ate the leftovers for lunch the next day.
Minchow: if you can eat anything larger than this, I shall crown you Queen Dumpling!

unkaleong: not too late to get some now! π
where is the lard!!!!!
KY: In my stomach!!!!
Hmmm…I think I need two other people to share this bak chang with me! π
These days, I prefer the Nyonya bak chang. I find it tastier.
When exactly is the festival of honoring dead scholar/poet/minister? Any chung left next month ar?
Reading about the origin of the festival here. http://www.knowingfood.com/rice/rice_dumpling_festival.html
Looking at current state of things, it’s a wonder no one has jumped in Klang River to date. Maybe in 9 year’s time.. π
Luckily I have my mom to make some bah chang to me every year… nothing come close to my mom’s creation π
Bangsar-bAbE: I like the nyonya bak chang too, but sadly, haven’t had any this year.
gfad: I think the festival is happening now (this week). I doubt there’ll be any when you get here. maybe has ur sis to keep some in the fridge for u? i believe they keep well.
thule aka leo: oh lucky you! i don’t think my mum has ever attempted to make bak chang. maybe i should learn and make her some instead. π
haha… great post! and good job a lil fat monkey for the nice poses ;p
gonna celebrate the bak chang day tomoro! weee
That sure is some crazy chang, man. Is the munkey that goes with it for festive consumption too? π
I think this is lotus leave rice cause it’s too big to be called dumpling, hehe ^.^
OH GOSH. CHANG!
Still selling? I’d pay some of my kidney for it.
i love bak chang a lot….can eat a few in a day…thought it a nyonya chang cause the leaf got blue color stain … hehehe…
do check my latest post dining experience…have a good day.
Didja know that in China the festival is officially known as The Dragonboat Festival? Didja know that it’s a public holiday? Didja know that Bak Chang’s called Zongzi there? And didja know that Starbucks China sells them too, and they are transparent! You can see the ingredients through them? Didja? Didja?
Miss me? LOL
my dad used to make them extra big too, they’re called ‘pillow jung’ (jum toe jung). we didn’t appreciate it bc he reheated them by frying and everything got mixed up; we hated having to eat his jung n couldn’t understand why he couldn’t make them normal size. now i wish i can have just one taste of dad’s special jung.
neways, rm20 for 1 kg zhongzi? tt’s damn cheap!!!! is it available all the time or just for the fest? kl is just amazing, so much good food!
OMG!! I am officially dying for chang! This is one of the things that I miss being in KL well, besides many other things too. Sigh, I may just have to make it myself but darn despite a whole day helping my grandma make it (I wanted to make sure I learned how to fold it) I still could not do it. It is possible I will wrap my chang like nasi lemak bungkus….
this is the funniest ba zang post I have ever read!!
